“Worksite Wellness” Grants"

The Utica Education Association Staywell Committee has announced the eleven winners of this year’s Worksite Wellness grants.
The awards, which range from $60 to $250, will fund healthy activities for students and staff in Utica Community Schools.
Winning programs for the 2010-2011 school year are:
Switzer Elementary
“Switzer Running Club” – Jeff Aisthorpe
Training and Development Center (TDC)
“U-CNECT” – Beth Bernier
Roberts Elementary
“Discin’ at Roberts” (disc golf equipment) – Scott Burnham
Oakbrook Elementary
“Oakbrook Mileage Club”- Jeff Gorski
Shelby Junior High
“Designing an EcoSystem for Natural Learning – Denise Hirschmann
Administrative Service Center
“Curriculum Steps It Up to Get ON TARGET” – Chris Horwood
Stevenson High School/Eppler Junior High /TDC
“U-CNECT – Eppler LCCE” – Pat Nizza
Graebner Elementary
“Fitness Fun Fest” – Susan Rosso and Julie Cesaro
Malow Junior High

“Five a Day” – Erin Zacharski
UCS teachers are encouraged to submit Wellness entries based on originality and creativity, promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, program quality and the number of persons who will benefit. Points are awarded in each category to determine the winners.
Worksite Wellness grants are funded by the UEA Staywell Committee with proceeds raised at the group’s 5K Trail Run and Fitness Walk held each fall at Stony Creek Metro Park. In addition this year, Daude Family Chiropractic in Shelby Township and the Michigan Educational Credit Union in Macomb Township each contributed grants worth up to $250.
