Mission Statement

The mission of our UEA Staywell Committee is to encourage and support the ‘Wellness Journeys’ of all UCS employees & the UCS community.

A record turnout helped make the annual "Trail Less Traveled" walk/run a success.

More than 350 fitness enthusiasts participated and helped raise funds on September 25 that will go directly back into UCS classroom for wellness activities.

"We are excited about the number of participants at this year's event," said Staywell chair Nancy Smith. "Many thanks to our sponsors and volunteers who helped make this year's event a great experience for everyone."

The annual fitness event, sponsored by the Utica Education Association's Staywell Committee, featured a 4K Run/Walk and 8K Run and a Scavenger hunt for kids 12 and under.

The event raises funds for Wellness grants throughout Utica Community Schools. Top finishers from the event are:

8K Overall Winner (Female & Male)

8K Master Winner (Female & Male), over 40 years of age
• Jean McCarthy
• Ken krausman

4K Overall Winner (Female & Male)
• Andrea Falendysz
• Cameron Hock

4K Master Winner (Female & Male), over 40 years of age

• Mark Neil

The annual walk/run has been recognized as a quality physical activity event by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness. The Governor’s Council endorses local, regional and state events that significantly contribute to the health and well-being of Michigan residents.

Staywell's next community event will be the "Freeze Your Franny" 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 A.M. at Stony Creek Metropark
