My Wellness Journey

I’ve never been really over weight, always been fairly active, but just needed a focus for my exercising.  At my highest weight I weighed 190 pounds. When I graduated High School I weighed somewhere around 160 or so.  Fortunately I was able to carry those extra pounds well.  Most of the time a baggier shirt would conceal the spare tire forming around my mid-section.

I’ve always been active, whether it was running on a treadmill, lifting weights, shooting hoops, playing softball, or golfing, I’ve always found ways to exercise.  My biggest problem was diet!  I struggled with portion size, eating late, and a lack of eating nutritious foods such as the fruits and veggies.  I also did not drink enough water throughout the day.

So, I decided I needed a lifestyle change.  This began after the first of the year ’09.  This wasn’t really a resolution, more of a commitment.  I approached my wife about purchasing the P90X Fitness Program.  She was leery of the idea at first, but after seeing the commercial and reading more information about the program she began to share my excitement.  So I purchased the program and we began our 90 day journey together!  The Journey has been awesome!  I am in last week of the program and feel amazing.  When I began the program I weighed 186 pounds, I currently weigh 163 pounds.  You can do the math.  I have muscles I never knew I had and have and more strength than ever before.  When my 90 days is up I plan to modify the program for more weight training with a little less cardio.  Ideally I liked to weigh around 170-175 pounds with muscle and limited fat.  I highly recommend this program to anyone.

Another huge key was changing my eating habits.  I figured if I’m going to put all of this time and effort into changing my body, I might as well provide it with the proper fuel it needs. Now I eat much smaller portions with fruits and veggies, and I drink at least 64 oz of water a day.

Decide, Commit, Succeed!
